The Lost Hieroglyph
The Tale
Act One
"Rocket" Ray Brackett, former baseball star and now adventurer,
and C.L."Ceel" Burroughs, the famous mystery writer,
are training in the Himalayas for a journey to Mars.

Instructed by the young lama
Tenzen Drongpa,
Ray succeeds in climbing a Himalayan peak without oxygen,
and is amazed when Tenzen teleports them back to the monastery to join Ceel.

That evening,
Chinese commandos slip into the monastery and take it over;
they capture Ray and Ceel, but not before Ray embeds a very strange pistol in a wall.
As the flame-pistol glows brighter, Ray, Ceel, Tenzen and the Abbot
are brought before Colonel Zhang, an honorable Chinese officer.

Zhang has pursued Ray and Ceel across the Himalayas,
believing them to have stolen the sacred relic, the Golden Shrine of Quamgapta.

Ray's flame-pistol detonates, and in the confusion Ray shatters Zhang's gun hand
with a well-pitched rock. He, Ceel, Tenzen and the Abbot escape.
The Abbot orders Tenzen to perserve himself, and Tenzen joins Ray and Ceel.
The three escape into the Himalayas.
